A Minecraft Film has reportedly surpassed the record previously set by 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie for the most important ever home field workplace opening of a online game adaptation. The brand new film, which was launched in theaters on Friday, raked in $157 million within the US in its opening weekend, in accordance with The Hollywood Reporter. A Minecraft Film is doing nicely internationally, too; THR stories that it’s earned $301M altogether in its international debut. The Tremendous Mario Bros. Film pulled in $146 million in its home opening and $377 million globally.
A Minecraft Film stars Jack Black, Sebastian Hansen, Emma Myers, Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks and Jennifer Coolidge. And whereas the trailers left us with fairly low expectations within the leadup to its launch, Engadget’s Devindra Hardawar discovered that it’s truly a reasonably good youngsters’ film that “delivers an honest message about championing creativity in a world that wishes to beat down free-thinking non-conformists.” You may read the full review here.
